With your GP

Your GP is the first port of call when you are experiencing symptoms. Your GP is trained to deal with thousands of conditions – but does not specialise in endometriosis specifically. As pelvic pain is a common symptom of many conditions, it is helpful to them if you can bring as much information as possible about all your symptoms. Please click here for a useful questionnaire that will prompt you to remember relevant information. Most GP appointments are 5-10 minutes long – please ask to book a double appointment, which will give both you and your doctor more time to discuss the issue.

If the GP wants to refer you to a specialist, it is worth asking if they know of one that specialises in endometriosis in the area. If they don’t know, you could find out from Endometriosis UK’s message forum on the website – simply post a message on there. Alternatively, you could contact the Local Group that meets in your area, to see if anyone can give you any further information. Please click here for detail of Local Groups.

Endometriosis UK is unable to recommend any doctor.
