Cardiff/South Wales Group

My name is Claire Taylor and I run the Cardiff Endometriosis UK local group in South Wales.  We meet every other month in the Spire (Bupa) Hospital, Pentwyn, Cardiff.

Each meeting, I arrange a guest speaker with the aim of informing us either on endo itself, or on ways of coping with it, followed by informal discussions within the group.

Previous speakers have included representatives from:

Expert Patient Programme Wales - Pain management
Heath Hospital Pelvic Pain Clinic - Help with pain
management
Consultant at Heath Hospital - endo presentation & research information
Cardiff Community Health Council
Endo UK - The charity & personal story
Alternative Therapies - Acupuncture demo
Nutritionalist – Diet information
Aromatherapy – Coping techniques
Hypnotherapy – Pain control

Claire - Local Group Leader

The group averages around 8-10 friendly and very helpful women - who either do suffer, or have suffered - with endo.  For people who are joining us for the first time, I offer to meet them before the meeting to have a chat, so they don’t have to walk into an established group, which can sometimes be a bit difficult.

Although I am the group leader, I don't profess to have all the answers – my aim is to facilitate women with endo to get together, which gives them the opportunity to share knowledge and learn from each other’s experiences.

Please feel free to join us – we would love to see you.

See below for dates of meetings in 2008. All meetings will take place at 7.30pm at the Cardiff Spires (previously BUPA) hospital in Pentwyn
